Street Food History
Owning two Old American School Buses in the heart of Sussex isn’t just a gimmick. We are truly passionate about serving delicious and sustainable American street food from our food truck Bella.
But the concept of street food isn’t new. In fact, it dates back to the late 17th century when vendors sold meals from small carts in bustling cities like New York. However, the modern food truck movement began gaining momentum in the early 2000s, where aspiring chefs, many of whom couldn’t afford the high start-up costs of a brick-and-mortar restaurant, turned to food trucks as a more viable option. So, from humble beginnings to culinary phenomena, food trucks have become an integral part of American dining culture. And we want to bring this rich history of evolution, innovation, and community to Sussex and beyond. From feeding the fields at festivals, uniting co-workers at corporates and bringing burgers to the dance floor at alternative weddings, our events catering experience means we’ve got you covered! So, here’s a run down of our most popular American street food menus to make you drool.

Street Food Truck Specials
Across Sussex festivals and weddings alike, our most popular late night snacks are Gourmet Burger and Fries (we have our local butcher make our 100% beef patties!). The burger scene in the US is particularly lively, as burgers are practically considered the official symbol of American cuisine. But we’ve made this classic staple our own with quality local produce and well thought out flavour combinations for that authentic yet elevated experience. For example, for The Great Escape festival, we put together a specialised menu fit for festival fanatics, featuring our American Classic, Mexicana, Pulled Pork, Buffalo Chicken and New Yorker Deli burgers and skin on fries, all made with fresh ingredients and tasty fillings. Picture yourself after raving to your favourite artist or dancing the night away at a wedding in a Sussex rustic barn, like Gote Barn in Ringmer, and being handed a succulent burger before the clock strikes midnight! All that tender meat piled high on a brioche bun, topped with tangy sauce, cheese and pickles…
Another favourite item on our menu is our American Grilled Cheese Toasties (we use an excellent baker in Brighton who makes delicious chewy white or brown, and a seriously good sourdough). Born from a range of culinary influences, the melted truth remains the same: the cheese toastie is a beloved snack that brings people together in a comforting warm embrace. Imagine that oozy cheese pull with friends around the campfire in a local glamping site, such as The Party Field in Lewes, Big Sky Tipis in Hailsham or The Enchanted Glade in Ashdown Forest. Who wouldn’t want to indulge in a gooey, cheesy, crispy toastie, and savor the rich history and cultural significance behind this delectable treat.
Loaded Fries are also a great versatile and informal catering option, and can be paired with a range of toppings, such as delicious BBQ smoked pulled pork or spiced beef brisket. Each state has its own take on this moreish snack but has captured the hearts and taste buds of food enthusiasts worldwide, including us! We find these to be a very popular late night craving you simply won’t want to share! We’ve served hundreds of chip trays of these delights at events like Glastonbury Festival, and we intend to carry on that way!
And we can’t resist our flavourful Tex Mex items, and our most popular Mexican style feast bowls and tacos. With a harmonious blend of fresh ingredients, these make for great portable and easy to eat evening meals or delightful snacks that sing with Mexican spices and flavours. We’ve fed the guests of several party goers at festival weddings at Great Betley Farmhouse in Henfield these menus, and they’ve always gone down a treat.
