When it comes to events, we know that food trucks and street food are becoming increasingly popular to hire for weddings, corporate events and family gatherings. So, we’ve compiled a list of the best in Sussex to get your taste buds tingling!

Oui Crêperie

From their four wheeled adventures in their beautiful Citröen H vans and converted horse trailer, to their own cafe along Grand Parade, Oui Crêperie are dedicated to their lovingly crafted crêpes and galettes, made with carefully considered quality ingredients. Having first realised the appreciation of their craft at a party making crêpes for friends on their flash new crêpière, they knew they could take their fun further. Undertaking thorough testing and research, they found people absolutely loved their offering at local food festivals, and they now also cater for weddings, corporate events and private parties, as well as doing pop ups within the local community. The menu at Oui Crêperie features a delectable selection of crepes, each prepared with authentic French techniques and flair. From the classic lemon and sugar crepe to more elaborate concoctions with a variety of fillings, there is something for everyone. Savoury crepes, often known as galettes, are made using buckwheat flour, providing a delicious gluten-free option for those with dietary restrictions.

Oyster Borough

Having met Stewart at an event at Falmer Court Brighton and being stunned by his beautifully designed horsebox trailer, we knew he had to be included in this list. Oyster Borough is a newly established Oyster service, delivering fresh quality oysters to corporate events, weddings, festivals and parties. Their horsebox, designed by Stewart’s flare of visual art, and two handmade shucking stations, means they can cater for both indoor and outdoor events of any occasion and size. Serving Whitstable, Irish and Dorset Oysters, guests can opt for Stewart’s well thought-out and finely tuned specials, or the more regular accompaniments of lemon and tabasco, ensuring the best compliments for the most enjoyable and fun Oyster experience.

The Old Skool Bus & Kitchen food truck

If we may take a moment for a shameless plug, we believe our food truck, a converted American School Bus specialising in serving American and Tex Mex menus, needs to be part of this list. Our delicious Mexican style street food & tacos, gourmet burgers and fries, loaded fries and hot dogs, and our hugely popular grilled American style cheese toasties are a must for any festival, wedding, corporate or private event. Our director Kate used to run a corporate agency, so between us we’ve planned and delivered hundreds of successful corporate parties, team building days and annual conferences. For the last three years, we’ve also had the pleasure of catering at Glastonbury – the absolute queen of festivals, as well as plenty of local festivals including The Great Escape and crew catering for Brighton Pride. We also get booked for plenty of rustic weddings, serving in the less formal and more sociable style to bring that friendly, relaxed vibe when it comes to wedding catering. We also get involved in charity events and location catering for TV and film crew!

Bus and bug vintage ice cream van

Bringing retro charm and nostalgia to weddings, corporate events, and special occasions, Bus and Bugs‘ adorable fleet of vintage VW Campervans, Beetles, and Ice Cream Vans make the perfect touch to any event. Having catered alongside them at the same rustic wedding venues across Sussex, we wanted to shout about what a brilliant and unique event catering business they are. Isla the ice cream van is a rare and beautiful high top bay window camper van, transformed into an adorable ice cream parlour, serving picture perfect ice creams in waffle cones and tubs. They also have dairy free, gluten free and vegan options available, and provide the option to add sauces, sprinkles and personalised wafers! One of their campervans can also be transformed into a gorgeous photobooth!

The Land Doughver

Priding themselves on their sourdough based pizzas with rustic flavour, The Land Doughver pizza van is really popular at Sussex venues we’ve catered at. All their pizzas are freshly made, hand stretched and topped with the finest locally sourced ingredients right in front of the oven for everyone to enjoy. What makes them especially unique, is that their pizza oven is housed in the back of their converted Land Rover Defender ‘Chi-Chi’. It is a near one tonne stone oven, which, once up to a temperature of 450℃ can cook 2-3 pizzas at a time in just 90 seconds! From the usual menu offerings, to their more unique pizzas, such as their ‘Wee Jimmies Haggis’, they all include their delicious pizza sauce made from San Marzano tomatoes and finished with fresh basil and extra virgin olive oil. As such, they provide an extra wow factor to weddings and private parties, and occasionally make an appearance at public events too.

Leonati Event Catering

Serving a wide range of great food and beverages from unique vehicles, we just had to mention Leo and his amazing coffee taxi truck. We have worked alongside Leo for 5 weeks at Leonardslee Illuminated and got to know him, becoming fascinated by his mobile catering business. His fleet of vehicles include a three oven pizza cab, four oven vintage pizza truck, 1985 VW Horsebox BBQ truck, 1934 Austin 10 Hot Dog Stand, and a fascinating Coffee Cab! Built out of one of Leo’s photo booth taxis, the coffee cab runs its 40 year old Italian espresso machine with coffee sourced from a local roaster in Horsham. Their Brazilian-Rwandan blend has become a favorite among coffee aficionados, and with it being served from a bright red London taxi, this is certainly a spectacle for all events. To complement their coffee offerings, they also serve a range of cakes, doughnuts, and cookies, allowing guests to indulge in the perfect pairing of delicious treats and exquisite coffee.

Crocus Paella

Although not a truck itself, Crocus does excellent Paella at lots of weddings and parties in Sussex at venues we are also recommended by. Like us, they have been awarded with the Healthy Choice Award, by Brighton & Hove City Council, which certifies that their business supports its customers by offering healthy food choices, based on healthy cooking methods and ingredients. Cooking everything from scratch, they are very selective with the ingredients used in their paellas to ensure they’re offering the best quality and taste. As such, apart from the local produce they use where possible, most of their ingredients are from Iberica Spanish Food, an award-winning importer of authentic and traditional Spanish products, based in Brighton. Their chicken, seafood, mushroom and mixed paellas, complimented by green salads and finished off with churros con chocolate make for the perfect freshly cooked Spanish feast for weddings, birthdays, parties and corporate events.

800 Degrees Pizza

Owners Alex and Glen are both Brightonians, and our director Kate has known Alex for 35 years and worked with her in hospitality in the past. 800 Degrees have two amazing wood fired mobile pizza oven trailers they set up at events, selling authentic rustic pizzas with various toppings. They also have a gazebo and recycled wooden frontage and they only use compostable serving plates or wooden boards to serve, making recycling and eco-friendly catering paramount. They cater to a range of dietary requirements, including vegan, vegetarian, dairy free, lactose intolerant, nut free and gluten free and have large events and festival experience with their team of family and friends, making them the perfect for a range of events with hungry guests.

Harolds Hog Roast

This family run business was born out of a passion for catering and a family history in butchery. Serving authentic hog roast, using only quality local suppliers, Harolds Hog Roast serves delicious hog roast baps at weddings, private parties, corporate events & festivals. With hog roast, lamb roast, BBQ’s, canapes, buffets, ploughman’s and more, there is plenty of tasty choices on offer. Their classic Hog Roast with sage & onion stuffing, apple sauce and crispy crackling is served in soft baps, as well as a delicious range of salads, vegetarian options and their special menus such as festive turkey, authentic German bratwurst, gourmet pies & mash, salt beef & Yorkshire pudding wraps. We’re drooling!

Alfresco Fish and Chip Van
